Get paid even when you're not there
Put a QR code on your honesty box or roadside stall. Customers scan it and pay from their banking app, and the money goes straight to your bank account. There's no machine to charge and nobody needs to be at the gate.

How it works at an unattended stall
- Print one QR code
- Make a code for your stall, download it and print it. Laminate it or tape it inside the lid. It keeps working for as long as you leave it there.
- Set a price, or leave it open
- Give the code a fixed price if everything costs the same, or leave the amount open and customers enter what they owe.
- Customers scan and pay
- Any phone camera will read it. They pay from their own banking app, or by card, with nothing to download.
- You hear about every sale
- You get an email for each payment, and a notification on your phone if you turn those on. The money goes to your bank account.
What a sale costs you

Why sellers add a QR code to the box
- People who don't carry cash can still buy.
- There's less cash sitting in the box overnight.
- You can see what sold and when without counting coins.
- There are no monthly fees, so a stall that's empty over winter costs nothing.
Common questions
- How do I take payments at an honesty box in New Zealand?
- Print a Tillify QR code and put it on the box. Customers scan it with their phone camera and pay from their own banking app or by card. The money goes to your bank account, and nobody needs to be at the stall.
- Do customers need an app to pay?
- No. Any phone camera reads the QR code, and the customer pays in their own banking app or by card. There is nothing to download or sign up for.
- Which banks can customers pay from?
- Pay by Bank works with ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank and Westpac. Customers with another bank can pay by card.
- What does it cost to take a payment at an honesty box?
- Sales under $6.25 cost 5% with a 10c minimum, so a $2 sale costs 10c. Sales of $6.25 and over cost 1% + 25c, capped at $2.50, so an $8 sale costs 33c. There are no monthly fees. Card payments also carry a card processing fee.
- How do I know someone has paid?
- You get an email for each payment, and a notification on your phone if you turn those on. Every sale is also listed in your Tillify dashboard.
