General Questions
What is Tillify?
Tillify is a simple payment platform designed for roadside stalls, farmers markets, food trucks, and garage sales. It allows you to accept payments via QR codes without needing an EFTPOS terminal.
How do I get paid?
When a customer pays you, the money is transferred directly to your bank account. For Pay by Bank transactions, this happens instantly or within a few hours. For credit card payments, it typically takes 2-3 business days.
Do I need an EFTPOS machine?
No! Tillify works entirely through your smartphone and QR codes. Your customers scan the code with their phone to pay.
What bank accounts can I use?
Any New Zealand bank account, including:
- ANZ
- ASB
- BNZ
- Kiwibank
- Westpac
- TSB Bank
- Rabobank
- The Co-operative Bank
- SBS Bank
- Heartland Bank
Can I use Tillify for my market stall or roadside stand?
Absolutely! Your bank account details are:
- Encrypted in our database
- Never shared with third parties
- Protected by industry-standard security
- Only used to direct customer payments
Payments & Fees
What payment methods can customers use?
Customers have two options:
- Pay by Bank: A direct, secure bank transfer from their account to yours.
- Credit/Debit Card: Customers can use their Visa or Mastercard.
Which banks can customers pay from?
For Pay by Bank transfers, customers can currently only make payments from accounts at New Zealand's big 4 banks:
- ANZ
- ASB
- BNZ
- Westpac
Note: Credit/Debit card payments work with all banks and card issuers.
How much does it cost?
There are no monthly fees. You only pay when you make a sale.

Best for you & your customers
- 1% + $0.25 per transaction
- Capped at $2.50
- Example: On a $20 sale, you receive $20 (fees billed monthly)
Credit Card
For customer convenience
- Stripe's standard rates + 0.75%
- Fees deducted automatically

When do I get billed?
We bill you monthly for any transaction fees incurred from "Pay by Bank" transactions. Credit card fees are deducted automatically at the time of the transaction.
Account & Setup
How do I sign up?
- Visit the Tillify website
- Click "Sign Up"
- Enter your email and create a password
- Verify your email
- Add your bank account details
- Create your first QR code!
The whole process takes less than 5 minutes.
How do I create a QR code?
Log in to your dashboard, go to "QR Codes", and click "Create New". You can set a fixed price (e.g., "$5.00 for Jam") or leave it open for the customer to enter the amount.
Can I have multiple stalls?
Yes! You can create as many QR codes as you need to track sales for different products or locations.
Is there a limit on transactions?
No, there are no limits on the number of transactions you can receive.
Account & Security
Is it secure?
Yes. Security is our top priority:
- We use trusted open finance platforms for bank connections.
- We use global leaders in payments for card processing.
- We never see or store your login credentials.
- All data is encrypted using bank-level security standards.
QR Codes
Can I set fixed prices?
Yes! You can create QR codes for:
- Fixed Price Items: e.g., "Bag of Apples - $5.00"
- Open Amount: Perfect for honesty boxes where customers enter the amount.
- Multi-Item Orders: Customers can select multiple items and quantities before paying.
Do QR codes expire?
No. Your QR codes remain active forever unless you delete them from your dashboard. You can print them once and use them indefinitely.
